How I Edit my Videos with Windows Movie Maker | Overlays, Fonts & Overlay Video

Hi! Today I'm filming a different video from what I normally film I'm going to show you how I edit my videos This is requested quite a lot When I asked you guys if I should make a video about this, I got a lot of positive comments about it So I decided to film a video about how I edit my videos I edit my videos with Windows Movie Maker Today I'm going to show you the basics of Windows Movie Maker I'm going to show you how I download fonts How I make and use overlays And I'm going to show you how I make/use an 'overlay video' How you put the sound of a video underneath an other video So you still hear me talking but you can see an other video You will see what I mean in a minute I will put the moments from when I explain everything in the description So you can see when I explain the things you want to know But of course I recommend to watch the whole video Because then you'll probably learn the most I just wanted to say real fast I'm no expert in editing in any way But because the video is requested a lot,

I wanted to film it for you guys Let's get started! At first I'll show you the basics There already are a lot of tutorials about this on YouTube So I won't really go in depth about this I'll just show you the most important basics At first you can import a photo or video in WMM So for example, I'll use this video I'll show you how to cut your video You can drag this little bar to where you want to cut it For example, I want to cut it right here Then you have to click on 'Video Tools' 'Split' Then you've cut the video You can also delete the other video To delete it, you have to click the right mouse button And then,

click 'remove' So cutting the video is actually pretty simple, you just have to click 'split' And that's it Then, with 'Animations', you can add transitions to your videos For example this one Or this one And with 'Visual Effects' you can make your videos black and white These are effects for your videos This one, for example You just have to play around with this You can also change the brightness And I also wanted to show you If you want to save your video You have to click 'Save Movie' I always click on the little arrow Because then you can choose 'For High-Defenition Display' Then you'll save your video in high defenition That's the best quality you can save your video in I think those were all the basics You can also add a title Or you can add a caption But this actually all speaks for itself And there already are a lot of tutorials on this So when you still don't get the basics you can search for an other tutorial on it Right now I'll show you how I download fonts

I download all of the fonts I use From the website 'Dafont.com' On this website, there are tons of fonts you can download The categories I like the most are 'Basic' and 'Script' I'll also show you how to download them I'll just go to 'Basic' For example, I like this font Cocomat Then you have to press download Then you press right here And then you have to double click the file with the sheet and the 'A' on it And then you press 'Install' Right now it already is in the list of fonts in Movie Maker and also in Word and other programs you use on Windows This is the font I just downloaded You can also change the transparency of the text in WMM You can do that by pressing 'Transparency' in the left corner In the 'Text Tools' bar Then you can drag this bar, 'till the text has the transparency you want it to have I really like this function Then I'll show you what I use the most and what was most requested How I put overlays on top of my videos I'll show you a few examples Text layers... and a lot of other things, I use this program for all of it Although it isn't Movie Maker,

you can just use it on Windows At first I'll make the overlays myself Mostly I'll make the overlays on 'Gimp' You can just download this program for free, it looks a bit like Photoshop But you can also make overlays on 'Picmonkey.com' That program is really easy to use and it's online When you make overlays yourself, you have to think about the transparent background And you have to save it as a PNG image When you did this, you can use it as an overlay Right now I'll show you how to do this At first, you have to save the video as a WMV file before you can put an overlay on top of it You can do this by importing this video in WMM Then you press 'Save Movie' And press 'Windows Media Video' (WMV) That's the video type you have to save it in, otherwise you can't use it in Expression Encoder Oh I didn't even mention this Expression Encoder is the program I'm using right now You can just download this on the internet, I'll put the download link in the description So when you saved the video you want to use in WMV You have to click 'File' 'Import' For this example I'll just use this video Then you've imported the video Then you have to press 'Encoding for Devices' 'WMV' Then you have to choose this one, 'p' That's the format YouTube uses Then you press 'Apply' You can just zoom it out, like this Then you can do this, this is what I always do 'cause you get the best quality when you do this 'Encoding Quality' Then you press 'Best Quality' and 'Apply' So right now you can put the overlay on top of it You have to look at the tab 'Visual Overlay', that's right here If this tab isn't there yet,

you can look at the tab 'Window' right here and check it You press 'Add Overlay' For example, this is an overlay I used a few times, with those beams You place it on top of the video, like this The format you made the overlay in has to be x That's the size of your video, so it'll fit perfectly on top of it So if you placed the overlay on top of your video as you wanted to You can press 'File' and 'Encode' to save it When it's saved, I'll show you where it's saved It's saved at 'Documents', 'Expression', 'Expression Encoder' At last, I'll show you how to make a 'video overlay' or a 'sound overlay', I don't really know how to call it But when you have the sound of a video, and you want to paste it underneath an other video You can do this really easily with other editing programs, but with WMM you can't really do this I figured out how you can do this with WMM, because of a YouTube tutorial I'll put the link of the tutorial in the description, so if you don't get it you can watch that tutorial too You have to open the video from which you want to use the sound Then you click on 'File' 'Save Movie' You have to scroll all the way down, right there you can click 'Audio Only' So that means you are only saving the audio of the video You press it and you save it If you want to hear your voice underneath an other video You open the video and click on 'Add Music' Then you have to open the audio you just saved You can also mute the audio from the other video When I play it right now Then you can hear my voice underneath the video,

but you can't see me talking I think this was everything I could show you guys about editing with Windows Movie Maker So if you still have any questions, or maybe I can make a part , you can leave it in the comments below I hope you guys learnt something from this tutorial, and I hope everything is clear This was the video, thanks for watching I hope it helped you guys, and I know, I'm not an expert in editing in any way I have Summer break right now, so leave your video requests below because I'm going to film a lot You can give this video a thumbs up if it helped you out I hope I'll see you guys next time Bye!
